The MG-1 is a long-standing favourite for good reason: a magnesium body gives you a large 115 x 107 mm platform at only 368 g a pair, which is lighter than most alloy pedals of the same size. Magnesium is also more resilient than it sounds, so this is a genuinely robust pedal rather than a delicate weight-weenie part.
Nine interchangeable screwed pins per side deliver the kind of grip that keeps your foot planted on rough landings, and because each pin threads in, wear and shearing are cheap to fix. The solid chromoly axle is built to take repeated jump landings without bending, and sealed DU metal-polymer bearings give low friction with high wear resistance, so they keep turning cleanly with very little maintenance.
