A magnesium master cylinder is where most of the weight saving comes from, and the whole assembly is 26 g lighter than the M9000 it replaced. Despite being lighter it is also 10% stiffer, and it holds that stiffness under high temperatures, which is exactly when a lever normally starts feeling vague. A shorter free stroke means the pads reach the disc sooner, and quicker rebound between actions means less waiting for the lever to return when you are braking repeatedly through a technical section.
