Shimano's premier off-road race shoe, and the one you see under a lot of fast riders. Outsole stiffness is grade 11, which on a BMX bike means the sole is not absorbing your gate start — the effort goes into the pedal instead of into flexing the shoe.
The closure is what sets the XC903 apart from cheaper shoes: two low-profile BOA Li2 dials that let you tune the forefoot and instep separately, and the lower dial is shielded so a pedal strike or a crash cannot pop it open mid-race. The heel cup has anti-twist stabilization, and the perforated upper adds ventilation plus a bit of stretch, which helps if your feet are wider than average.
