XT brakes have been the benchmark for mountain bike braking for years, and this generation takes an already near-perfect lever and sharpens it further. If you want XTR-level control without XTR pricing, this is the kit.

The BR-M8220 four-piston caliper delivers high stopping power and stays composed in rough terrain, and Shimano fitted it with new high-performance resin pistons that do not crack the way ceramic pistons can. Smooth Servo Wave action optimises the power curve and manages pad-to-rotor friction right through the lever pull, so braking feels balanced rather than sudden. Brand-new low-viscosity mineral oil and revised seal architecture hold that power consistent across a much wider temperature range, and a lower-profile inline master cylinder and hose tidy up the cockpit considerably. Supplied as a J-kit.
