The four-piston XT brake, and probably the best value serious stopping power in the Shimano range. You get most of what XTR offers for a good deal less, which is why it ends up on so many hard-ridden bikes.

The M8120 caliper runs four pistons for genuine gravity-capable power, paired with a two-finger aluminum M8100 lever that gives a firm, predictable feel. It uses a banjo hose connection, which lets you rotate the hose to whatever angle suits your frame and bar setup rather than fighting a fixed exit. Fitted with N03A resin pads, and it takes D03S resin or N04C and D02S metal pads if you want to change the character. 410 g complete, supplied with a 1.70 m hose, without a disc.
