The step up from the XLS-1, and the difference is all in the freehub. Where the XLS-1 uses a 24-tooth ratchet, the XLS-2 runs three pawls with five teeth each on a 120-tooth internal ratchet. In practice that means dramatically less dead movement before the hub bites, which is exactly what you want when the gate drops.

It is also lighter, at 1392 g the pair against the XLS-1's 1446 g, despite the more sophisticated internals. Rims are the same proven 6061-T6 double wall design in two specific profiles, laced with 14G steel spokes and alloy nipples.

Like the rest of the range it arrives ready for V-brake braking, with a CenterLock rear hub that converts to disc when you need it. Supplied without a cog, and the CenterLock to ISO converter is a separate purchase.
