The XC-focused XTR brake, and at 312 g for the complete kit it is one of the lightest hydraulic setups Shimano has built. If your priority is a light race bike that still stops properly, this is the one.

The magnesium two-piston caliper is where most of the weight saving comes from, and titanium bolts trim a little more. The two-finger M9100 lever gives a clean, precise feel with a straight hose connection that routes tidily. It comes fitted with K03Ti resin pads for quiet, progressive braking, and if you want more outright bite you can swap to K04Ti metal pads without changing anything else. Supplied with a 1.70 m SM-BH90-SS hose, and without a disc.
