Plastic pedals are usually a compromise between weight and grip. Insight's Pro Thermoplastic platform gets around that by threading real metal traction pins into a light thermoplastic body, so you get the low weight of a composite pedal with the bite of an alloy one.

Those pins are the reason these work in conditions where a plain plastic pedal turns slippery, and because they thread in, you can replace them when they wear down or shear off rather than replacing the whole pedal. Underneath sits a CNC-machined cr-mo axle running on an LSL self-lubricating bushing and a sealed bearing, so the spin stays smooth without needing attention. At 360 g a pair with a generous 113 x 114 mm platform, they are an easy, affordable upgrade for a race bike or a jump bike.
